PROJECT DETAILS
Skapar takes pride in transforming dreams into reality.
Introduction
In the heart of Chaska, a charming Saltbox 2 Story built in the late ’80s became the backdrop for an inspiring home remodeling project. Brian and Susan, who had raised their family in this beloved residence and were now welcoming grandchildren, envisioned a kitchen that would breathe new life into their home. Over the years, attempts had been made to update the kitchen, but the couple was ready for a complete transformation. As their dedicated home remodeler and contractor, Skapar stepped in to turn their dream kitchen into a reality.
Design Inspiration
The original design of the home featured a walkway that cut through the middle, resulting in a small and cramped kitchen. Brian and Susan worked closely with our talented designer to reimagine the space they had always longed for. A key consideration was the prevalent use of oak throughout the house. Brian, an oak enthusiast, expressed his love for the material, providing the team with a clear direction for the design.
Creative Solutions
To seamlessly blend the new design with the existing home, the decision was made to introduce a stained island and hood while painting the remaining cabinetry. The island, finished with a Coffee Bean stain, served as a focal point, creating a beautiful contrast against the oak elements. The cabinetry, adorned in SW 6193 Privilege Green, brought a refreshing and modern feel to the kitchen. The wall color, SW 6191 Contended, added a touch of sophistication to the space.
The Challenge
One of the main challenges encountered during the remodel was the removal of a hallway wall that housed the mechanicals for the second floor. This structural modification was necessary to open up the kitchen and provide an additional 100 square feet of space. Addressing this challenge required the expertise of creative mechanical contractors who devised innovative solutions to reroute the mechanical systems without compromising functionality.
The Results and Transformation
The successful completion of the project resulted in a stunning and functional kitchen that exceeded Brian and Susan’s expectations. The removal of the hallway wall not only expanded the kitchen but also created a seamless flow between the different areas of the home. The strategic use of color and materials brought a harmonious balance between the existing elements and the modern upgrades, achieving the perfect blend of nostalgia and contemporary style.
Completion and Investment
The investment in this transformative kitchen remodel ranged from $150,000 to $200,000. The cost was justified by the significant expansion of the kitchen, the meticulous attention to detail in the design, and the skilled craftsmanship required to overcome structural challenges.
The Reimagined Kitchen Design in Chaska is a testament to Skäpar’s commitment to turning homeowners’ dreams into reality.
By embracing the challenges of the past and creatively addressing them, we were able to breathe new life into a cherished home. Brian and Susan now enjoy a kitchen that not only reflects their personal style but also serves as a welcoming space for family gatherings and the creation of lasting memories.
